Ian has a wide range of investment experience advising both private and local authority pension schemes in relation to the investment issues they are facing, whether this is the appointment of investment, transition or fiduciary managers, custodians or the use of alternative investments (including longevity swaps, insurance products, liability driven investments, private equity, infrastructure and hedge funds).
Ian has acted for a number of clients advising and drafting tailored investment solutions for their pension schemes. This has included advising:
- the trustee of the ITV Pension Scheme in respect of their £1.7bn longevity swap with Credit Suisse;
- the trustees of the GSK Pension Fund and Plan with their £900m buy-in with the Prudential;
- the trustees of the CDC Pensions Scheme in respect of their bespoke collateralised buy-in with Rothesay Life;
- trustees of pension schemes in developing bespoke private equity structures;
- LDI mandates;
- trustees in respect of fiduciary management solutions;
- trustees in respect of the use of various DC platforms.
