• May 2008 - Deadline looms for submitting comments on The Pensions Regulator's Conflicts of Interest guidance

  Consultation on the Pensions Regulator’s hotly debated draft guidance on “Conflicts of Interest” (to which Sackers will be submitting a response) comes to an end on 30th May 2008.

• May 2008 - Sackers advises in Friends Provident bulk annuity buy-in

• April 2008 - The Pensions Regulator's Code of Practice on reasonable periods for dispute resolutions: Comment from Sacker & Partners LLP

  The imminent arrival of the Code does not appear, as yet, to be making any big splash in the pensions industry but we anticipate that its effects will gradually ripple outwards.

• March 2008 - The Pensions Regulator's Clearance Guidance: Comment from Sacker & Partners LLP

  The Pension Regulator has today published its eagerly awaited clearance guidance. Draft guidance was published for consultation back in September 2007, which Sackers commented on before the consultation period closed in November 2007.

• February 2008 - Sea Containers - first ever Financial Support Direction

  Today sees the announcement that, following the withdrawal of its appeal, the first ever Financial Support Direction (FSD) has been imposed on Sea Containers Ltd.

• January 2008 - Sacker & Partners LLP helps secure favourable ruling for pension scheme trustees

  The London VAT Tribunal has today determined that Capital Cranfield Trustees Limited, a professional trustee company, acting in its capacity as a statutory independent trustee, is entitled to claim a VAT refund on expenses incurred on behalf of the Kenrick and Jefferson Group Pension Plan in wind-up, following its successful appeal against Her Majesty’s Commissioners of Revenue & Customs (“HMRC”).
