Sackers responds to DWP consultation on pension scheme disclosure requirements

On 6 January 2010, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) published a consultation on proposals and draft regulations relating to the disclosure of information requirements applying to occupational and personal pension schemes.  The consultation closed today.

Comments from Sacker & Partners LLP:

Jonathan Seres, partner at specialist pensions law firm Sackers, commented: "We welcome the DWP’s proposals to facilitate email communications between schemes and their members.  Putting this into practice, it will be essential to achieve both simplicity of operation and protection for trustees and members.  The regulations could usefully be supplemented by guidance for trustees to enable them to make optimal use of the IT systems available for electronic disclosure, particularly to supplement the responsibility of members to supply their most up-to-date contact details."
