Sackers launches its new governance team
Sacker & Partners LLP (“Sackers”), the UK’s leading specialist pensions law firm, today announced the launch of its Governance Team, created to promote best practice in the area of scheme governance.
With the Regulator increasingly turning its attention towards ensuring good governance amongst pension schemes, the Team brings together firm-wide experience to provide trustees with practical help as they seek to establish or improve their governance frameworks.
Good governance goes beyond simply ensuring legal compliance and touches on many areas of the day-to-day running of pension schemes, such as the selection of new trustees or the development of Trustee Knowledge and Understanding.
Robin Simmons, partner, says: “More than ever, trustees need to ensure their governance measures are not merely there to tick boxes, but provide a meaningful process that encourages sound, transparent decision-making. Sackers’ Governance Team channels our extensive experience in this area to provide practical, specialist help to clients enabling them to get to grips with the many challenges that effective governance presents."
"We are bolstering our existing offering for clients – which includes seminars and bespoke training – with a series of newsletters taking a fresh look at scheme governance. The first in the series is about member-nominated trustees, including tips from our experiences sitting on selection panels illustrating how we can bring a new dimension to this area."
