Partners Jonathan is a leading expert in pensions law. He advises large public companies and institutions with pension funds of £50m to £14bn. His in-depth knowledge of pensions makes him an adept problem solver in areas such as common investment funds. In particular, Jonathan is a specialist in the areas of scheme mergers and innovative drafting. He actively advises in high profile scheme mergers, obtaining court approval where necessary. He advised the Marconi trustees in 2005 when £675 million was set aside for pensions, partly in an escrow account, in the sale of business to Ericsson. In 2006 he advised the Thames Water trustees when the employer was sold to a Macquarie-led consortium. A founder and past Chairman of the Association of Pension Lawyers, Jonathan has served on government liaison committees relating to various aspects of pension law. Author of several books on the subject, and a regular speaker at conferences, his most recent publications are “Pensions Risk and Strategy” (City & Financial Publishing, co-authored, July 2005) and the lead chapter in “Pension Scheme Deficits: Practical Solutions” (Globe Business, September 2007).
