Robin Simmons

Robin advises employers and trustees on a wide range of pensions law issues. His work recently has focused on advising employers in managing their defined benefit liabilities, whether through scheme closures, cessation of accrual or benefit design changes. Robin also advises on corporate mergers and acquisitions, notably advising the trustee of the Boots Pension Scheme in its deal with the KKR-led private equity consortium’s acquisition of Alliance Boots plc.

Robin plays an active role within the industry. He is currently a member of the APL's Education & Seminars Committee and has authored the pensions chapter in Tottel’s “Age Discrimination” book (2007). In the past, he has assisted the DWP on its drafting of the Pensions Act 2004; sat on the NAPF's Multi-employer Schemes Working Group; and revised the Court Service’s pension sharing forms.
