Pensions Bill must address increasingly blurred boundaries between contract and occupational schemes
Helen Ball, head of defined contribution at Sackers, comments:
“The Government’s plans to introduce a Pensions Bill were largely expected, as it was clear from last week’s House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee report that new measures were on the cards. They demonstrate the cumulative effect of recent pensions policies on automatic enrolment and retirement flexibilities.
“We await to see how those drafting the new legislation will deal with the increasing blurring of boundaries across the contract and occupational scheme divide, and hope that the new rules will protect members whilst avoiding stifling high quality and innovative arrangements.”
