Sackers ESG guide awarded Best Thought Leadership Paper on Sustainable Investing
Sackers has been awarded the Best Thought Leadership Paper on Sustainable Investing title in the 2019 Sustainable Investment Awards. The accolade recognises Sackers’ latest guide for trustees on Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG), ‘Putting the law into practice’, published in February.
Stuart O’Brien, Partner at Sackers, commented: “ESG has been continuously moving up trustees’ agendas and 2019 has seen many schemes preparing for the implementation of recent regulatory changes, such as the new investment regulations which come into effect from October. The most recent set of changes to statements of investment principles (SIPs) and investment disclosure, while introduced with an implementation deadline for October 2020, will mean trustees must re-evaluate their responsibilities once again. The Pensions Regulator’s consultation on trusteeship is also now underway, meaning this is an area that is constantly evolving. With this in mind, it is more important than ever that trustees are equipped with the right tools to help them navigate these complex regulations and challenges. Trustees need to be prepared to challenge their advisers, ensuring that they are meeting their legal duties and empowering them to make the right decisions for their schemes. Our guides are designed to do just that. We invest a great deal of time into breaking down the confusion that continues to surround ESG, continuously looking to enhance and update our guidance for trustees and schemes alike. We are proud to have been recognised as being at the forefront of thought leadership in this field.”
