Sackers promotes five lawyers
Sackers, the UK’s leading commercial law firm for pension schemes trustees and employers, has promoted Nigel Cayless and Lucy Dunbar to associate director, and Adeline Chapman, Chirag Ghelani, and Katy Harries to senior associate.
The promotions took effect on 1 August 2016.

Nigel Cayless has extensive experience dealing with schemes making changes for the future, be this closing to new members or future accrual, or providing benefits in a different form such as DC or CARE. He also advises trustees of schemes with distressed employers on issues such as employer covenant and apportionment of employer debts, and he takes a particular interest in scheme governance issues.
Lucy Dunbar advises on exercises involving closure to future accrual, implementing pensionable pay caps and introducing new benefit structures including advising employers on contractual changes and consultation exercises. She also has considerable experience in pensions tax, advising on annual allowance and lifetime allowance issues and potential unauthorised payments.
Adeline Chapman has recently been involved in various corporate reorganisation projects including advising either trustees or employers on pension scheme mergers and transfers, scheme closures and the introduction of benefit changes.
Chirag Ghelani advises on liability management exercises, amending scheme documentation to reflect changes in legislation and benefit design, negotiating third party contracts, reviewing member communications, dealing with pension liberation cases and advising on the key issues in relation to mergers.
Katy Harries advises on consolidating and updating scheme documentation, state pension integration, closure issues and member communications. She has a particular interest in discrimination
, as well as pension tax issues and the new data protection regulations.
