I advise both trustees and employers on a wide range of pensions matters affecting their DB and DC pension arrangements. This includes working closely with my clients in relation to common day-to-day issues such as benefit and member queries, disputes, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. I also provide seamless legal support on more complex and intensive projects, working alongside other professional advisers.

My recent work has focused increasingly on bulk annuity transactions, scheme mergers and de-mergers, and considerations relating to use of surplus and scheme wind-up. I also have an interest in section 615 and former cross-border schemes and as a member of the firm’s governance team enjoy helping clients get to grips with the ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Recent experience

  • advising on the implementation and assessment of new governance policies and frameworks following the introduction of the Pensions Regulator’s General Code
  • assisting trustees with all stages of bulk annuity transactions, including benefits and data work, contractual negotiations and residual risks due diligence
  • helping clients navigate scheme mergers, sectionalisation and de-mergers including information sharing and service provider transition
