I am an experienced litigator and I advise trustees and employers on all aspects of pensions litigation, including professional negligence claims, actions to rectify errors in pension scheme documentation applications to the High Court for declaratory relief and member complaints (both under schemes’ internal dispute resolution procedures and to the Pensions Ombudsman).

I also have particular experience of resolving claims via mediation, where I have obtained a number of successful outcomes for clients.

As well as acting for clients in proceedings before the Court and the Ombudsman, my practice involves supporting clients with strategies to manage risk and prevent disputes from arising.  I enjoy helping clients to find pragmatic solutions to issues which might otherwise become contentious.

Recent experience

  • acting for the trustees and employer of a pension scheme in Court proceedings to rectify multiple historic errors in scheme documentation
  • pursuing claims against investment consultants arising from the LDI crisis
  • representing a Representative Beneficiary in a High Court application where a drafting error in a scheme’s rules was remedied by “corrective construction
  • acting for the trustees and employer of a pension scheme in a professional negligence claim against multiple firms of solicitors and actuarial advisors relating to the failure to validly close the scheme to future accrual
  • advising in relation to complaints brought by members under the Pensions Ombudsman’s “lead case” approach.
