I advise on a broad range of pensions issues for both trustee and employer clients relating to DB and DC pension arrangements.

This includes various day-to-day areas such as scheme governance queries that arise in the course of scheme administration, drafting and interpreting scheme documentation, drafting member communications, and trustee training.

I also have experience with various pension-related projects, including advising on various mechanisms of risk transfer – particularly in regards to buy-ins and buy-outs; GMP exercises – from reconciliation to equalisation; and assisting clients with getting ‘pension dashboard ready’.

Recent experience:

  • advising on multiple high profile risk transfer exercises – from buy-in planning to ultimate wind-up
  • advising on and drafting a consolidation of scheme rules
  • advising on the introduction of a new DC section for a large hybrid occupational scheme, and drafting the new DC section rules
  • advising on the bulk transfer of DC benefits to a master trust
  • assisting with a transition to a professional sole corporate trustee
  • negotiating service provider contracts, including data protection elements of commercial agreements.
