About

Nigel joined Sackers in 2006 and his experience includes working on teams advising the trustees and employers of occupational pension schemes on a wide range of pension related matters.

Nigel has extensive experience of dealing with schemes making changes for the future, be this closing to new members or future accrual or providing benefits in a different form such as DC or CARE. In addition, he regularly advises trustees of schemes with distressed employers on issues such as employer covenant, apportionment of employer debts and dealings with The Pensions Regulator, the Pension Protection Fund and other stakeholders such as banks and creditors.

Nigel has considerable experience advising defined contribution schemes and is a member of our international pensions team. Nigel represents the firm at Ius Laboris events and conferences.

Nigel is also a member of our governance team and regularly advises on a wide range of governance issues.  Nigel has recently sat on a number of member-nominated trustee selection panels and has experience of guiding trustees through such processes.  In addition, he has recently advised a number of trustee clients on governance issues connected to a change of pensions administrator.
