Peter Murphy comments in the Sunday Times on the Pension Schemes Act 2021

Pension Schemes Act

Peter Murphy, partner comments in the Sunday Times. “Some types of disputes involving employers, trustees and others have become more prevalent. The requirement to equalise pensions benefits arising from the historic differences in the retirement ages of men and women has led to court action, and these cases often involve complex legal and actuarial issues.”

“Many disputes are also arising, with financially distressed employers and their obligation to pay contributions into their pension schemes, which can cause considerable worry for pension holders. These can lead to intervention by the Pensions Regulator, which has just been granted greater powers to protect defined benefit pension schemes under the new Pension Schemes Act 2021.”
