Opportunities in business services

Our Business Services functions are fully integrated in the business and provide a vital role in supporting our lawyers and contributing to the success of our firm. Business services roles sit within the BD, Finance, HR, Legal Project Management, Legal Secretarial, Office Services, Reception and Technology teams.

Training and development

At a firm of our size, you can see how your contribution makes a difference and adds value. The business services teams are small which means there are opportunities to get involved in a range of work and activities to build skills and expertise. We take an individualistic approach to training as we recognise that people respond differently to learning and have different needs. Where training needs are identified, tailored training or coaching is organised. Collaboration across the business is valued and staff have opportunities to work with people they would not usually work with, for example on different projects and committees.

In addition to the support from your direct line manager and team, all business services staff are assigned a buddy upon joining the firm. Their role is to help orient you during your first few months at Sackers and to provide insight into the day-to-day activities of Sackers to help you to settle in.

Instant awards

All business services staff are eligible to receive an instant award, which is a gift voucher of their choice. Instant awards are rewarded to staff who have done something that is above and beyond what might reasonably be expected of them. The awards are a way of showing the firm’s appreciation for what the individual has done.

A good work-life balance

There is no long hours culture at Sackers, although occasionally (depending on the area that you work in) you may be asked to work outside core working hours in order to meet urgent client or other business needs as in any City law firm.

What do we look for in our business services staff?

Specific skills and experience required for a particular job will be indicated on the job description. In general we look for people who are friendly and courteous. We want people who take a pride in delivering work to a high standard, who will develop good relationships both internally and externally and who take the initiative as appropriate.
