Sackers joins leading law firms to become a certified family-friendly employer
Sackers has become the latest employer to join the UK’s first certification scheme designed to raise the standards of family-friendly working.
The scheme, run by Family Friendly Workplaces, assesses working practices using an evidence-based framework of best practice, enabling organisations to understand where they measure up against global standards. By becoming a certified Family Inclusive Workplace, Sackers has proven to be an employer who is willing to go the extra mile to support the wellbeing of their people and promote inclusivity.
This certification demonstrates the commitment to staff and their families through recently updated and improved policies, on top of a broader commitment to flexible working. Last year, we introduced our enhanced family leave policy, offering 26 weeks’ full pay to parents, regardless of gender. This “gold standard” approach actively encourages co-parents, as well as birth mothers, to take meaningful time away from work, helping to normalise shared caregiving from the outset. We have also enhanced our Carer’s Leave and Neonatal Leave provisions, recognising the pressures faced by those supporting family members at critical times and ensuring our staff feel supported when it matters most.
Debbie Holmes, HR Director, said “Creating a family‑inclusive workplace is fundamental to who we are at Sackers. Supporting parents and carers by offering enhanced leave, flexibility and understanding of their challenges enables our team to thrive at work while managing the realities of family life. Being certified as a Family Inclusive Workplace recognises the importance we place on getting this right”.
Flexible working is firmly embedded in our culture. Nearly 40% of our workforce now work part time, and senior leaders lead by example, with over half of our partners in formal flexible working arrangements. We are proud to champion work life balance and to create an environment where flexibility and progression go hand in hand.
