Seminar budget special: a turning point for lifetime savings?

Thursday 14 April 2016

While the Chancellor’s Budget on 16 March did not reveal a radical reform of pensions tax relief, the introduction of a new lifetime ISA (“LISA”) could mark a turning point in how individuals save during their working life. Having had time for the dust to settle on George Osborne’s latest pronouncements, this session will focus on what the proposals might mean in practice for the future of retirement and lifetime savings more broadly.

Amongst other things, we will consider:

  • how the changes fit in with the current tax system?
  • who will be able to take advantage of LISAs?
  • what other changes are on the cards?
  • what key steps should employers and trustees be taking to prepare for the changes?
  • what options might be available to employers and pension savers alike in providing for future retirement savings?
  • what can be done to improve member engagement and what to watch out for?
