PLSA rebrands to Pensions UK
The PLSA has rebranded to become Pensions UK from 1 July 2025. The rebrand reflects the organisation’s role as a “voice advocating for better pensions for savers, schemes, and the industry”.
Along with the name change, Pensions UK is adopting a new strategy for the next five years known as 2030 Ready. The strategy sets out how Pensions UK will achieve its objective of making sure the industry and system are “ready for the next decade”.
TPR to launch new pensions data and digital working group
TPR published a blog on 1 July 2025 reminding the industry of its digital, data and technology strategy, in which it aims to adapt its regulatory approach, help raise industry standards around data quality and administration, and work with the industry to develop innovative products.
TPR plans to launch a new cross-sector pensions data and digital working group in the autumn. It hopes the group will be a “pivotal” force in shaping the future of the pensions industry, building upon the work of the innovation support service. The group will collaborate on:
- open standards for data
- enhanced data sharing, and
- prioritising digital integration, making use of the latest technology while promoting cultural change.
Although the group will be “grappling with complex issues”, TPR expects it to “target practical solutions and quick wins”.
TPR to develop net zero transition plan template
On 7 July 2025, TPR announced it will establish a “transition plan working group” to develop a voluntary net zero transition plan template for occupational pension schemes. This follows the recent publication of the Government’s consultation on climate-related transition plan requirements.
The ultimate template will be based on the framework and guidance by the UK Transition Plan Taskforce and will be presented to the DWP later this year.
